About Me

I was born and raised in Melbourne.  I discovered my love of drawing at an early age (especially through the world of comic art) spending many hours copying every superhero.  I later discovered a passion for finding the ‘fun’ and ‘quirky side’ in everything, especially people, thus started my obsession with caricature (finding the essence of a person’s character through exaggeration) and cartooning.

In 1985 I graduated with a Diploma of Graphic Design, but caricatures and illustration was my forte, so at the ripe old age of 23, I approached a cartooning legend - Geoff Hook, who was so impressed with my work.  He organised a meeting with the editor of ‘The Sun’ and the rest is history.

I worked at ‘The Sun’ and ‘The Herald Sun’ for 25 years doing a varied portfolio of work from front page political caricatures, sport caricature posters/covers, single gag cartoons, general and technical illustration. My work appeared in The Sun, The Herald Sun, Weekly Times, interstate, country newspapers, shine magazine and more.

Over the 25 year journey, I received many awards including 2 Melbourne Press club, Quill awards (1998/2009) Artist of the year 2006 (News limited), best Digital illustrator 2007, Runner –up Michael Collins Caricature award 2007/2009 and 2007 finalist Best Artwork, Walkley awards.
